Our thermometers have a large, easy to read display, and include a protective sheath for storage (not shown). The attached red ball is made of wood, so it always stays cool enough to touch. The metal clip allows you to clip it right to your melt pot for convenience. Temperature range is 75 - 400° F, in 5 degree increments. Also excellent for candy making, but do not use the same thermometer that you've already used for candlemaking. |

100% Bayberry Wax - 1 Lb.

Bayberry wax, also known as "bayberry tallow" or "myrtle wax," is the rarest and most prized of all candle waxes. Our bayberry wax is 100% pure and natural, has a warm, earthy fragrance reminiscent of newly mown hay, and dries to a lovely olive green color. It takes about 15 pounds of bayberries to make just one pound of bayberry wax! Bayberry candles are especially popular around the holidays, and can sell like wildfire with good marketing and packaging. Standard 8 inch bayberry taper candles have been known to sell for up to $12 each, and only use about 1/10th of a pound of wax! In the novel The Swiss Family Robinson, by Johann David Wyss, the shipwrecked family made candles using the wax from wild bayberries. Early American colonists also used the wax from bayberries to make candles. According to tradition, a bayberry taper candle burned all the way down on Christmas Eve or New Year's Eve brings good luck for the coming year. As the saying goes: "A bayberry candle burned to the socket rings food to the larder and gold to the pocket." This wax is recommended for dipped tapers only. 3" Follower
|
|
If used properly a candle follower will add beauty and function to a candle. By pooling the wax as the candle burns your candles will burn longer and with less mess.
To Use:
Make sure that your follower is the correct size for your candle. Too large a follower will slide to one side and gradually become unsealed. Too small a follower will bind on the candle and not follow down, as it should.
Clean all wax from the follower from the last use. If the follower is not clean it will not seat properly and will not work efficiently.
When positioning a correctly-sized follower on a candle top, give it a quarter twist with slight pressure. This will "seat" the follower so that it will seal properly on the shoulder of the candle.
Once a follower is seated, and especially after the candle has been lighted, do not break the seal. When the seal is disturbed, liquid wax leaks out inside the follower and prevents it from resealing itself. The candle will flood.
To reseat - first remove surplus wax from follower, and drips from candle. If needed, trim the head of the candle to even it up. Then reposition the follower on the candle. |

This baby blue candle pigment is blacklight responsive! Our candle pigments are only available in diamond chip form. The vendor may alter the product at their discretion. Pigments do not dissolve in wax. They are a suspension of particles, which needs to be stirred before pouring or dipping. Pigments are not recommended for coloring a candle all the way through; the particles may clog the wick, and/or some particles may settle to the bottom of the mold and leave dark specks on the top of the candle. It is best to reserve pigments for overdips. IMPORTANT NOTE: Color swatches are provided for comparison purposes only. Actual color will vary depending on scent, additives, and wax used. Differences in monitor settings will also cause the colors to be displayed differently.
